Bio

Yvonne Sciò, è un’ attrice e regista dalla formazione ricca e variegata, maturata fra Italia, Francia, Spagna e Stati Uniti, dove ha vissuto per molti anni. Con 45 film all’attivo e quattro lingue parlate è una delle attrici più internazionali del panorama cinematografico italiano. Le sue capacità come interprete drammatica e comica derivano dalle sue radici nella scena teatrale e nel cinema italiano di qualità. Fondamentali in questo senso i workshop a Los Angeles, allo Strasberg Institute e con Michele Danner, e il palcoscenico calcato in giro per l’Italia sotto la regia di Monicelli ( “Le Relazioni pericolose” al fianco di Laura Morante e Dominique Sanda). Il grande successo televisivo era invece arrivato nel 1992 con Non è la Rai, la fortunata trasmissione di Gianni Boncompagni.

Sul grande schermo Yvonne Sciò ha esordito con “Stasera a casa di Alice” (1990) di Carlo Verdone. Da quel momento si è costruita una carriera scegliendo progetti che : “Rappresentino una sfida. Un film per interessarmi deve trasmettermi qualcosa di nuovo”. Perciò negli anni Novanta la troviamo in film come “ A che punto è la notte” di Nanni Loy con Marcello Mastroianni ed Ennio Fantastichini, “Zuppa di pesce” della Infascelli, “Sabato italiano” e “Passport to Paris”.
In seguito la sua recitazione versatile le ha permesso di venire scelta per importanti produzioni televisive americane come “The Nanny”, “La femme Nikita” e “Boy meets World”. Esperienze inprescindibili per un attore di formazione europea che voglia confrontarsi con Hollywood e dintorni: “Lavorare in una serie tratta da un romanzo di Stephen King come “Rose red” mi ha insegnato che anche lavorando a grandi progetti bisogna rimanere umili. L’umiltà in questo lavoro ti aiuta a crescere umanamente e professionalmente”.

Nel corso della sua carriera Yvonne e’ stata, inoltre, immortalata da alcuni dei grandi maestri della fotografia internazionale tra i quali Helmut Newton, Willy Rizzo e Juergen Teller. Convinta pero’ di non doversi fermare mai , nel 2005 si sposta a Madrid per essere la protagonista di “Torrente 3: El protector”, nuovo capitolo di una saga amatissima che ha raggiunto la vetta del box-office. In seguito ha partecipato a “Brothel”, piccolo gioiello indipendente made in Usa. Nel 2006, tornata in Italia, è nel cast de “La Masseria delle Allodole”, tratto dal best –seller di Antonia Arslan e diretta dai Fratelli Taviani e successivamente è la co-protagonista de “Il Nascondiglio” del maestro Pupi Avati. Nel 2007 recita ,invece, diretta da Riccardo Scarchilli in “Scrivilo sui muri”.

A luglio del 2008 Yvonne diventa mamma di Isabella Beatrice e decide di prendersi una pausa per dedicarsi completamente alla sua bambina. Ritornata per un breve periodo negli Stati Uniti per partecipare ad alcuni progetti teatrali, Yvonne è ora in Italia dove sta vivendo una nuova maturità artistica in qualità di regista e produttrice: “Roxanne Lowit Magic Moments”, documentario sulla vita della famosa fotografa Roxanne Lowit, e “Seven Women” dedicato a sette donne straordinarie.

Ha prodotto la fiaba The Velveteen Rabbit, un’app per iPad rivolta ai più piccoli, pubblicata su iTunes. L’idea è nata subito dopo la nascita di sua figlia e dal tempo passato a leggerle fiabe. Interesse principale era il creare delle belle immagini che potessero essere interattive con i bambini.

Dopo anni passati sul palco e davanti alla telecamera Yvonne decide di sfruttare tutto quello che ha imparato dai grandi registi con cui ha lavorato ed intraprendere la carriera di regista e produttrice.

Una scelta coraggiosa e rischiosa ma necessaria per la sua realizzazione lavorativa-artistica come donna in mondo dominato ancora dagli uomini.

Cresciuta in un ambiente di artisti, grazie agli insegnamenti di sua madre (giornalista di moda per Harper Bazzar), nel 2015 gira il suo primo docu film Roxanne Lowit Magic Moments dove ripercorre la vita della più grande fotografa americana contemporanea. È Roxanne stessa che si racconta insieme alle testimonianze di personaggi la cui strada si è intrecciata alla sua, come Giambattista Valli, David LaChapelle, Giorgio Armani, Jeremy Scott, Julian Schnabel, Pat Cleveland, Amanda Lepore e Heidi Klum.

Nel 2019 dopo il successo della sua opera prima, Yvonne produce e dirige il documentario Seven Women continuando il suo viaggio nel mondo delle donne. Protagoniste sono sette donne che si sono distinte per le loro lotte, per la loro creatività e originalità. Sette punti di vista sul ruolo femminile nella società contemporanea tra l’Italia e gli Stati Uniti attraverso le interviste della giornalista Rula Jebreal, la stilista Rosita Missoni, la modella Bethann Hardison, la costumista e stilista Patricia Field e l’attrice Fran Drescher.

Yvonne Sciò’s development is rich and diversified; she lived for many years in the United States and then Italy, France and Spain. The Premium Italian Theatre scene is the foundation of her capability as a dramatic actor as much as comedian. The workshops in LA, at the Strasberg Institute and with Michele Danner, and the stages all around Italy under Mario Monicelli ‘s direction (in “Le Relazioni Pericolose” with Laura Morante and Dominique Sanda) have been essential.

In 1992 thanks to “Non è la RAi” a television show created by Gianni Boncompagni she reached national fame.

She has been introduced on the Silver Screen in “Stasera a casa di Alice” (1990) directed by Carlo Verdone. About her projects she said: “They need to be a challenge. A movie to catch my attention needs to say something new”.

In the ’90 we can find her in movies like “Zuppa di pesce” directed by Infascelli, “Sabato Italiano” and “Passport to Paris”.

Thanks to her eclectic talent Yvonne worked in many important production for the American television like “The Nanny”, “Boy meets the World” and the Canadian “La femme Nikita” about her Hollywood experience she said: “While working on a big production like the adaptation of Stephen King “Red Rose” I have learned the importance of being humble. Humility is what helps you to grow as Human been and as Artist “.

In 2005, without any real break, Yvonne moved to Madrid for “Torrente3: El protector” new chapter of a really loved saga and a box office success, than was the time of a little American independent gem “Brothel”.

In 2006, she made her way back to Italy, for Taviani’s “La Masseria delle Allodole, adaptation of the best seller with the same title, written by Antonia Arslan, later is co-lead in “Il Nascondiglio” by Pupi Avati. In 2007 she is directed by Riccardo Scarchilli for “Scrivilo sui muri”.

In July 2008 she became mother for the first time of a baby girl named Isabella Beatrice and she naturally took a break to be a mom.

She came back for a short period on the American stage and then she moved to Italy where she is working in Independent productions. Yvonne is also producing for Web and Television, notably a beautiful interactive fairy tale “The Velveteen Rabbit” , which can be downloaded for free for IPad on ITunes platform and the documentary “ Roxanne Lowit magic Moments” about successful career of Roxanne Lowit , fashion and celebrities photographer.

She produced the tale of The velveteen rabbit, an app for iPad for children, that was available on iTunes. Having to read books overnight before going to bed, she liked the idea of seeing beautiful images that could be interactive with the children.

After many years on stages and sets Yvonne decides to pass behind the camera, hoping to bring with her all that she has learnt throughout the years of working with great directors and actors and photographers, becoming a director and producer of her documentaries.
She was afraid of not being capable as it was a new path of life, but felt the need to express her voice in this new form, being a woman in a world still dominated by men.
She grew up surrounded by artist, writers and intellectuals in a moment where Italy was artistically very in evolution. Thanks to her mother who was a fashion journalist for Harpers Bazzar in Spain.
In 2015 she directs her first documentary : Roxanne Lowit Magic Moments where she tells the story of her long time friend, Roxanne Lowit, an iconic American photographer that her archives are American pop culture but also the first backstage and the photographic eye of YSL.
In the documentary many extraordinary talents talk about how there paths crossed  with Roxanne’s throughout her life, from Giorgio Armani, Jeremy Scott, Pat Cleveland, Giambattista Valli, Amanda Lepore  Heidi Klum and many more…
In 2019 after the success of her first documentary she produced and  directed Seven Women, continuing on telling stories about completely different women.
The seven stories of seven completely different women that defined there there success in life on there terms of creativity and individualism.
Seven  different points of view into the feminine role in contemporary society between Italy and the United States. Throughout interviews to Bethann Hardison , Rula Jebreal, Fran Drescher, Susannne Bartsch,Rosita Missoni  and Patricia Fields.
